Is it the drama or the jewels?

“Are you ready for the beach? Vogue China is and they usher in warm weather with a beautiful story by Daniel Jackson starring Carola Remer and Ming Xi. Sporting high hair by Esther Langham and bold jewelry with Pucci-style prints chosen by Tiina Laakkonen, the duo makes the perfect vintage styled pair.” -Models.com

Love the bold colorful dress and bold statement jewels.

The country of China is already synonymous with color red, but in this feature spread for November’s Vogue China gives China and Red a fiercer meaning!
I love the dramatic feather vest!

“Max Vadukul and stylist Nicoletta Santoro show two different sides of Patricia van der Vliet and Karlie Kloss for November’s Vogue China. On the cover the girls are a picture of sweetness in coordinating looks from Vuitton, but their editorial tells a very different story; dressed in shades of red and sporting long wigs, Karlie and Patricia play vixens.” – Models.com

Vogue China
Both of the models look undeniably chic and edgy. I believe the red and black styling ads a bit of drama and mystery to the girls.
The demure and conservative cover plays a light contrast to the dark and edgy featured spread.

I came across this spread for Vogue China’s September 2010 issue and it showcases the type of vintage styling I am a fan of – timeless, classic and sophisticated.

The styling is artistic and timeless. The looks aren’t dated with any over the top period pieces and would be glamorous decades ago or decades from today.

Story behind the shoot:
Paolo Roversi creates a vision of classic finery for Vogue China’s September issue. There are no avant garde costumes or blurry photography tricks, but the story doesn’t lack for anything; Nicoletta Santoro’s vintage inspired styling and Liu Wen’s timeless beauty are more than enough and Roversi showcases both with his engaging portraits. There is something almost painterly about the look of this editorial and its nostalgic feel. -Models.com
