Tie-dye Suede

May 11th, 2011 No comments

I find suede to be a funny material. It’s to sensitive for the fall/winter weather, rain and snow do not agree with it. Suede is also almost a bit heavy for spring/summer. So I am guessing it’s a mild weather fabric for the transitional season. I decided to wear my suede tie-dye mini on a sunny 75 degree spring day.

Vintage denim jacket, Forever21 blouse, Rachael Roy tie-dye suede mini, Pour la Victoire wedges and Junior Drake fringe bag.

The skirt has subtle gold zippered pockets on both the front and back.

Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

October 12th, 2010 No comments

This past weekend I attended the Veuve Clicquot Los Angeles Polo Classic at the Will Rogers State Park. This was my first Polo Classic and I was excited to have a fun glamorous day in the sun.

Although, I read up about the event prior to attending, I was still ill prepared and thus will provide you with:

Cake Not Coke’s Polo Tips!

Umbrella Seating

1) The Obvious: Arrive EARLY. Cannot stress this enough. We did arrive early, but due to traffic up the hill we missed the last “first come first serve” umbrella seating area by 5 mins and were forced into the bleachers or standing!

a) Also, this note is for the general public: If there is signage stating that you cannot park at the park, please do not be selfish and try anyway. The back log of cars being turned away traveling up and down the canyon caused a traffic clog and hindering the shuttle transportation.

The view from the bleachers

2) BYOB: Outside food and beverage was allowed, and we didn’t know. Although, the organizers jumped on the bandwagon of the LA food truck craze and had several on site, they did make sure inflate the price on the a bottle of Champagne.  Next year I will be sure to bring my picnic basket and cooler!

a. Veuve Orange label: Grocery Price $39 Tournament price $90

No $90 doesn't get you the big one!

3) Get on the list! The event was open to the public. Normally with all events I try to network beforehand to try to gain access to any special or VIP perks. This time I completely spaced!

a. VIP was located on the shaded side of the park . No need to arrive early for an umbrella table.

b. Full Bar: I am unaware if the Bar was open or not, but I guarantee the prices were more reasonable.

c. Party! There was music and dancing and seemed like much more of a party then the public side.

d.  Did I mention shade?

The VIP area

I was also very impressed with Polo fashions – sorry I am still a bit too shy to ask strangers for a photo. The men were well suited or dressed rather dapper and dandy! The ladies brought out their Sunday best or garden party dresses.

Straw floppy derby hat, French Connection dress, Pour La Victoire wedges.

I love the one-should bow on this dress! I would have melted without hat coverage!

Louis Vuitton bag, Lia Sophia pearl and stone bracelet and Forever21 belt.

Neutral perfection

August 20th, 2010 No comments

Until recently, LA was having the coldest summer ever! So I got to keep some of my lightweight layering pieces around a bit longer…

Citizens of Humanity jeans, Michael Stars tank, Joie sleeveless duster and Pour La Victoire wedges.

I picked up these wedges as a summer neutral wedge. I love the style and crossing straps, but the toes push forward a bit to much for my liking.

I picked up this Joie duster earlier this year on uber clearance. I guess Bloomingdale’s really over bought on this one…

Org $268 – My steal $48!!

Kate Spade fold over clutch, Forever 21 scarf and personal vintage bracelet.
