Inside: Punk – Chaos to Couture

On my recent birthday trip to NYC I took a break from scouring the hundreds of sale racks at Century21 to visit The Met and check out Punk Chaos to Couture. Punk is a collection designer looks inspired from the British and American punk culture of the 1970′s and 80′s.

This look from the Burberry SS13 collection is my favorite look from the exhibit.

SONY DSC I love the amazing details on the leather studded and spiked jacket. It is one of the newer collection pieces on the display and this possibly why I adore the jacket so much. Although, once could probably DIY it, I am not much of a DIYer – so I am itching to commission a tailor to make one! SONY DSCSONY DSC

Another one of my favorites is from the AW07 Givenchy collection. This look is more toned down and wearable. This gold pyramid stud jacket would easily work into my wardrobe! Commission project #2!

The exhibit included a few Vivienne Westwood pieces from the 1974 film Too Fast to Live, To Young to Die!

Punk is an amazing exhibit and a great example of the intersections of music, lifestyle, fashion and ingenuity. The exhibit closed this summer, so I am happy I was able to share my inspiring experience.

Fashion Show Mall Finds

This year I am spending New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas! I’ve been to Vegas several times, but this is my first New Year’s here so  I am excited for the shenanigans of this long weekend. I decided to take it easy the first day and spent Friday afternoon trekking through the massive Fashion Show Mall looking for something special… My finds…

Saks is currently offering additional 40% off sale and I scored this fabulous Bailey 44 dress!

Nordstrom is currently in sale mode too but my finds did not come off the rack but from that little  accessories area/kiosk on the contemporary women’s floor. To be honest, I normally cruise right  past it, but you have seen it, normally where you can find a boutique like selection from House of Harlow, Deux Lux and others…. Well I found these….

Spring Street Designs skull rings… Uber chic fun accessory at the affordable price of $24! Be warned, they aren’t the most secure fitting rings!

Finally, I am not normally big on hats, they tend to be a bit tight on my huge head! This hat by San Diego Hat Company was too adorable to pass up!

This Cloche style hat just about paired perfectly with my shopping day outfit.

Burberry Brit jacket, Theory skirt, Lucky Brand boots and Alexander Wang bag.
