Barneys: Inside Michelle Mason via Twitter
Twitter is becoming an amazing resource on whats current and happening now… Even though most of us only see less than 5% of tweets; the key is catching a gem of a tweet that makes the rest obsolete.
Yesterday, I spotted this tweet: @BarneysNY FASHION Q&A: A BNY Exclusive Sneak Peek Into Michelle Mason’s Whimsical World -

With their clean, fluid silhouettes, minimalist palette and attention to luxe materials, California native Michelle Mason’s designs are the kind of clothes that women gravitate towards.
And it is perhaps Mason’s unique background in fashion and design that has impacted her designs the most. In the early ‘90s, she worked as an assistant to Australian designer Richard Tyler. From there, she took to the runways and spent the rest of the decade modeling in London for the likes of Hussein Chalayan. She then returned to Los Angeles, launched a shoe collection (which Barneys immediately snatched up), and in 2001, began designing her own clothing collection.

Mason reveals her inspirations, her must-have items for fall, and the lowdown on how modeling helped hone her point-of-view. Read the rest at Barney’s New York – The Window – On the Fly.
