London Calling LA Designers!

December 2nd, 2011 No comments

The Los Angeles Fashion Council has recently launched  ‘London Calling’ in order to send five designers to London this coming February for a three day trade and salon style show. Four talented Los Angeles based designers have been pre-selected to go to London; Mila Hermanovski, Bryan Hearns, Alana Hale and Curly V – the last spot will be filled through a Facebook contest.

Designers can submit their work for the contest on our Facebook application and fans can vote their favorite through January 10th. The ten designers with the most votes will be judged by a panel of esteemed members of the Los Angeles fashion industry and one will be selected to join us in London.

Not a LA designer, but looking to get involved? A Kickstarter page has been launched and anyone can donate any amount to the cause – and donations greater than $25 receive rewards from from the selected designers!

Style with Benefits + Mango

November 24th, 2011 No comments

Last  Friday I attended Rebecca of Style with Benefits shopping event at Mango. In store I took some pics of my favorite looks on display.

I fell in love with this daring backless maxi dress.

I saw these super fun colorful peg leg skinny pants and I had to pickup the hot pink pants – especially since everything was 30% off for the event.

What I wore to the Mango event.

BCBG maxi skirt, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent velvet jacket, American Apparel body suit, Ralph Lauren chain link cuff and House of Harlow bangle.

Guest were greeted with champagne and a challenge  – Style yourself in a complete Mango look for a chance to to win one of 3 Mango gift cards!

Rebecca judging the entries…

My Mango look gold painted skinny jeans and red leather moto jacket.

I didn’t win, but I had a great time hanging with Melanie, Rebecca and Tiara; who won the the grand prize!

Twitter = Customer Service

November 9th, 2011 2 comments

It seems like every company has a social media presence on Twitter, Facebook and some still on Myspace. Companies tweet up coming sales, new merchandise, customer praise and complaints. Although, the company does not have to respond to “@Retailer Your customer service is horrible”, but a surprising amount of companies do inquire and attempt to resolve the issues.

This past summer I had 2 customer service experiences via Twitter.

Note: Twitter timelines, they start at the bottom.

@TheCoffeeBean tweets:

I decided to wake up early one morning and treat myself to a coffee on the way to the office, something I do not normally do because I do not have the time during my morning commute. When I finally arrived to Coffee Bean they did not have the ingredients for my much sought after Dark Chocolate  Mocha! If a coffee place is going to be out of something it should NEVER be a weekday morning. Well the PR rep running the Twitter count offered to speak to me about my experience… Never did… Although, the lack of follow through was disappointing, I still have a Dark Chocolate Mocha Saturday mornings at the dog park.

@Nordstrom Tweets:

Now the story is pretty much told in the Direct Messages, and I understand we all make mistakes, but nothing is more annoying being excited to gt a package but having to return and re-order the item. The local Nordstrom staff  called apologized for the inconvenience. As much as I or anyone else would have liked a gift or a gift card with at least two zeros, the personal touch was appreciated.

Clous du Bois provided an endless wine bar!

Nib Nobs are a little guilty pleasure in a few bites!

Imoshion is a LA based handbag line that helps you maximize your bag purchase by designing bags that are season-less.

I fell in love with the Madelyn top handle bag. The best part is the gold chain that make it into a chic little shoulder bag.

The Nikki is also a great versitle evening bag that can convert to a clutch or shoulder bag!

Betsey Johnson jacket, Mason by Michelle Mason cut out leather pants, L.A.M.B shoes and Louis Vuitton bag.
