Quality vs. Quantity

I spent this past weekend doing a different short of shopping with a friend… Home furnishings! She is taking the plunge and buying her first place! Congrats to her, but with this big accomplishments comes the idea of furnishing a home from scratch! After moving back from college she moved home and has been there for the past several years saving for this big day.

Now she has no desire to bring with her any of her bedroom furniture from her parents home, she wants to make this place her own. Working in entertainment and fashion, she feels the extra pressure to make this home a statement. She does not want to take a classic “Better Homes and Gardens” approach to decorating, but young youthful and modern.

I decided to share some of her inspiration tear sheets with you  that I found to be fabulous.

The key to making a lot of this happen is the dilemma between investing in quality furnishings such as The Furniture Market’s oak furniture or something like an Ikea. We took the lessons we’ve from years of shopping and correlated them into this situation. Invest in quality where it counts, bed, sofa and shoes – all things that would keep you from have back problems in the future. Then fill in the holes with less expensive items lamps, book cases and dresses!

Celebrity Beauty Secret: Photoshop

January 11th, 2012 No comments

For those of you who do not know the truth behind flawless magazine covers, never ending eyelashes and of course suddenly svelte figures…

Fotoshop by Adobé from Jesse Rosten on Vimeo.

Hopefully young women will begin to learn the truth behind their celebrity idols’ photo shoots and look to real progressive women to idolize rather than critiquing themselves for not being flawless like the pictures.

That is my profound statement for the month. Now back too shopping and parties!

I AM RAW

October 3rd, 2011 No comments

Lat week I attended the Raw Artist showcase in Santa Monica. Raw Artist is an independent organization to help up-and-coming artist with tools, resources and exposure to inspire and cultivate creativity.

The showcase featured traditional artist, photographers, musicians and a runway show. Two of my favorite featured artists were Adam Nisenson and Gino Burman-Loffredo.

Adam Nisenson does the unthinkable  with your favorite pair of jeans…

I love the inner workings and precise detail of Gino Burman-Loffredo’s paintings.
