The Ones 2 Watch: Machinist

September 3rd, 2010 Hillary No comments

I recently came across The Ones2Watch New Wave. It is an online magazine showcasing the people behind the lens – the fashion industry’s up and coming photographers, stylists, hair/makeup artists, casting directors, designers, illustrators and more. TheOnes2Watch features original and commissioned content from contributors across the globe.

I love the strength and beauty that is captured in each image. The strong styling elements such as the ornate shoulders, hard embellishments and gravity defying hair compliment the models smooth, soft and natural beauty.

My Ode to the Power Skirt!

September 1st, 2010 Hillary 3 comments

When I find something I like, I buy in multiples… I have the basic French Connection tube dress in 4 colors and 2 prints… I feel like if it works and looks awesome on, why stop at one!

My newest obsession…

BCBG Power Skirts!

It started with one I picked up on sale, now my collection has grown to 5 different power skirts, equally sexy and fabulous. FYI this is not a BCBG sponsored post! I have picked each of these up on my own. Although, after this, they should put me on payroll!!

Jacquared Power Skirt

BCBG Power Skirt, Express Blazer, Bebe tank and Ralph Lauren pumps.

A possible office  look, featuring a patterned Power Skirt, blazer and pumps.

Striped Textured Power Skirt

BCBG Power Skirt, Olive & Olivia sweater and BCBG pumps.

I love this skirt because the angled cut at the waist gives the appearance of a flat stomach, which I do not have! Now I have a perfect pairing for this cropped sweater! That I also have in black.

Evening Power Skirt Looks

Basic Black Power Skirt

BCBG Power Skirt, yellow silk tank, Proenza Schouler booties, House of Harlow cuffs, H.Studio Cuffs Forever21 belt.

Snake Skin Power Skirt

Snake Skin BCBG Power Skirt, Forever21 tube top, H.Studio cuff and Sam Edelman pumps.

The snake printed skirt is one of my favorites; I don’t think I need to explain why!

The one that started it all!

Purple Power!

BCBG Power skirt, Forever21 lace top and Sam Edelman pumps.

Love! Love! Love! The Power Skirt!

A close up on my new fall pumps…

Sam Edelman York Pumps

Love these! So glam rock!

Sorry if the pictures are a bit sexy. It’s hard to look un-sexy in a Power Skirt! These skirts make you skinny and curvy in all the right places!

Vogue China: Instant Classic

August 29th, 2010 Hillary No comments

I came across this spread for Vogue China’s September 2010 issue and it showcases the type of vintage styling I am a fan of – timeless, classic and sophisticated.

The styling is artistic and timeless. The looks aren’t dated with any over the top period pieces and would be glamorous decades ago or decades from today.

Story behind the shoot:

Paolo Roversi creates a vision of classic finery for Vogue China’s September issue. There are no avant garde costumes or blurry photography tricks, but the story doesn’t lack for anything; Nicoletta Santoros vintage inspired styling and Liu Wen’s timeless beauty are more than enough and Roversi showcases both with his engaging portraits. There is something almost painterly about the look of this editorial and its nostalgic feel. -Models.com

Summer’s Luxury Swimwear

August 25th, 2010 Hillary 2 comments

As summer comes to an end, I recommend taking advantage of every bit of sunshine you can before you have to pack on the layers again.

The best way to accomplish this is at a pool party!

You can host one, attend one at local swanky hotel or hit Vegas for the real deal.

These pool parties aren’t for your Body Glove maximum support and coverage suit. These parties require something a bit more luxurious, sultry and sophisticated.

Possibly luxury lingerie inspired swimwear?

Agent Provocateur Swim 2010

When I begin to think about sexy and luxury lingerie, I immediately think of Agent Provocateur.  Nothing says sexy glamor, like an Agent Provocateur swimsuit, a large brimmed hat and a cosmo!

Styling tip: When attempting the sultry vixen look, it is key not to discount your look to much as you may, like your suit, come off as cheap.  For those who would like to leave a bit more to imagination, regular day time cocktail attire is recommended as an alternative to swimwear.

Project August 2010

August 23rd, 2010 Hillary No comments

This year was a bit different. Project and Magic both occupied the entire convention center, with smaller shows such as Workroom and Capsule exhibiting amongst the major shows.

The first two days of the show are pretty crazy and my grand scheme was to sneak out on the third day and take pics of some of  my favorite lines and new ones to watch for. Well unfortunately I left my camera charger at home and was stuck with take a few pics from my Blackberry!

I was fuming!!

But then this made me smile…

I quickly fell in love with the floral sequin sweetheart cocktail dress.

Naven cocktail dress

Naven is a Los Angeles based women’s line designed by twin sisters Kym and Alexis McClay. I was drawn to their fun, feminine and flirtatious style.  My style tends to lean towards the more playful contemporary women’s looks, this line is a perfect fit for me. Naven plays on a contrast between a classic and sophisticated silhouette and a young, fun and flirty style.

The Project Show offers exhibitors, buyers, press and visitors unique and quirky benefits such as a Mini Mani-Pedi salon, multiple bars with spirits, several internet lounges and phone charging stations. Not to mention a sound track provided by some of the NYC’s best DJ’s like DJ Rumor.
