I was first introduced to designer LaQuan Smith via his appearance on the pilot episode of Oxygen’s House of Glam. House of Glam is a “reality” show based on a small boutique styling agency in NYC and all of their drama. To me, LaQuan was the break out star on the show. Even though he was only featured for a few moments showing a few pieces from his collection, I instantly fell in love with his avant garde style.
He started his career by creating custom pieces for an array of celebrities, pop culture icons and artists including: Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce’, Alicia Keys, and Tyra Banks.

LaQuan made is NYFW debut this past February 15th, 2010. Although, the majority of his pieces one may have difficulty wearing anywhere outside of being stage or at the Met Ball, I am consistently intrigued.

I realize I maybe a bit late to the LaQuan Smith fan club, but I know I am not the only one new to the fiercely futuristic designer. I am eager to see more from LaQaun on the runway and one day more ready to wear!
