LA Story

September 29th, 2010 No comments

“You can’t beat Hollywood for sheer drama; Francesco Carrozzini taps into that theatrical spirit for Vogue Italia with a story tailor made for Los Angeles. Using her skills as an actress Rie Rasmussen embodies the role of disenchanted L.A. housewife, from cleaning a broken glass off the kitchen floor, to staring blanky at her own reflection, Rie adds emotion to each and every picture.”

I love the contrast of the dirty spoon diner and Aristocrat woman. Burger and fries plus fur and vintage jewels, two things you don’t expect to see together.

Another fabulous vintage-esque photo story brought to you by Vogue Italia via Models.com.

Enter the Phantom of the Opera

I went to the opening night of the return of Phantom of the Opera this past Thursday. Every seat was filled! I am happy too see that the majority of the theater guest were dressed for the occasion!

I wore these Twelve by Twelve wide leg trousers that I am always apprehensive about. They can either make you appear European Fashion Forward or 30lbs bigger… So I wore them with pumps, a body suit blouse and a skinny embellished belt to show a more elongated and silhouette.

Mission Accomplished?

Tweleve by Twelve pants, Guess belt, Marcianco blouse and Bebe tank.

I feel like the pants are supposed to be worm a little higher, but I am too scared to go there!

I am also trying out this new red lipstick… I have gotten mixed reviews on it… I feel a bit mixed about it as well… What do you think?

H.Studio red cuff and black chunky crystal bangle.

Unfortunately, the Pantages Theater is hardcore anti photography (of course I wouldn’t take pictures during the show) so I couldn’t share any of the wonderful pictures of the stage and THE CHANDELIER!

I do advise you to see the Phantom of the Opera if you are able too. The costumes were exquisite and the prop and stage manipulation was amazing.

My favorite part…

The Masquerade Ball of course!

A Leg Up

“The feminine 50s trend strikes again, this time in the pages of Vogue Nippon with a cheeky editorial by Sølve Sundsbø. In the story Ana Beatriz Barros and Alessandra Ambrosio fall head over heels for luxurious ensembles by Vuitton and Cacherel, all chosen by super-stylist Katie Grand. While Ale and Ana look fit for an episode of Mad Men, Solve adds in a touch of whimsy by shooting the girls upside down and lounging like true retro pinups – the look is sexy, coy and just a little demure.”

Gorgeous modern styling with vintage photography! The images are so smooth and crisp that they are reminiscent of actual art.  See more at Models.com

Ground Breaking

September 20th, 2010 No comments

Last week I attended the ground breaking ceremony for the future site of Fashion Los Angeles. Fashion Los Angeles aims to bring back a sophisticated and successful LA Fashion week

Disney Concert Hall

Fashion LA will take over the rooftop of a parking structure across the street from the majestic Disney Concert Hall. The lot will be built out into several structures including 3 runway theaters, several exhibit halls and staging for design displays.

Future of Fashion Los Angeles

I am excited to see the organization continue to gain momentum as Los Angeles is continually over looked and scoffed at by other fashion cities even though LA is the 5th largest fashion city worldwide. LA is $32 billion fashion industry with 6,800+ fashion business jobs and 98,00 fashion jobs.

Destroyed skinny jeans, Romeo and Juliet ruffled sweater, Zara velvet blazer, L.A.M.B pumps and personal vintage Coach bag.
